Useful gardening information

Use light soil with a high organic content for most successful culture. The summer varieties, nearly all of which are bush growth, should be planted in hills 4’ apart each way, while the winter or other runner varieties require 8-10’. When thinning, save only 3-4 plants per hill. You can start plants early in peat pots indoors. As soon as seedlings in the garden emerge from the soil, begin regular dusting with recommended insecticides and fungicides to help control Cucumber Beetle, Vine Borer and the spread of diseases that affect squash.

LET807 Smooth Criminal Hybrid

55 days. Pale to medium yellow, straight neck fruits have thin skins and thick necks. Fruits are very tender and are best when harvested young at 6" or less. Flesh is creamy white and full of flavor. Bushy plants are nearly spineless and have a very unique, upright, indeterminate growth habit. Uniform fruits are produced along the central stem and can be harvested easily and painlessly. Tall plants may benefit from staking or trellising. Widely adaptable. Very heavy yielder.

Heirloom. 52 days. This is our most popular zucchini. An early, very productive, bushy plant with an open habit. The blocky fruits are dark green and 6-8” long at their best quality. They turn almost black at maturity and are usable at almost every stage. The flesh is delicious, creamy white, tender and firm.

Early White Bush Scallop Squash is one of the best white summer squashes around. The bush type plants on this scallop squash produce tender fruits that are best when harvested at 4"-6" in diameter.
Early white bush scallop squash is a variety of summer squash more familiarly known as pattypan squash. They have a mild, slightly sweet, buttery flavor, making them a versatile accompaniment to a wide variety of dishes. They are a good source of vitamins A and C, potassium and magnesium. Pattypan squash are quick and easy to cook by baking, sauteing and boiling.
Pick summer squash early and often. Not picking will stop the production of the plants. Early White Bush Scallop Squash is ready to harvest just after blossom falls from fruit and fruit can be easily dented with a thumbnail. 50 days. 50 days.

One of the few squashes that can be successfully grown in containers. F1 zucchini, for home garden, high yield in less space, dark green, excellent flavor, 54 days.

W142 Early Prolific Straightneck Bush

Heirloom. 42 days. AAS winner.
We prefer this one for grilling due to it's straight shape and delicious flavor.
This is the most productive strain for home and market gardens with high quality fruit that grows on a semi-bush with an open habit. The fruits are uniform, lemon-yellow, club shaped and lightly warted with firm, fine grained flesh. The quality remains good, even up to 1’ in length.

Tasty and tender, buttery yellow with creamy white flesh that is delicious. Uniform fruits can be picked early for use as baby squash, or allowed to reach full maturity of 10 inches while retaining all its irresistible, high quality eating. Low growing, open, bush-habit plants with few spines means easy picking and yields are abundant. Excellent for fresh eating, in stir-fries or roasted on the grill. Exhibits resistance to Powdery Mildew. 55 days.

TPF266 Early Golden Crookneck

42 days. Bush type squash produces high yields of buttery-yellow squash with narrow curved neck. Very tender and flavorful. Turns darker yellow as it matures. Excellent fried, steamed, or baked. Best harvested when 8" long. One of the earliest crookneck squash on the market which keeps producing all summer long. Suitable for home garden and market growers.
