Lobelia Seeds

Lobelia is an attractive flowering plant that is used to attract bees and beneficial insects as well as uses in baskets and flower gardens. It is often matched with alyssum in containers and garden beds. It can just litter the ground or a container in color.
The foliage and flowers are delicate, but lobelia flowers in abundance, blooming all summer right until frost. In spring and fall lobelias grow well in full sun. However, in summer the sun may be too strong for this plant and some shade will help keep it in bloom. Bushy plants grow well grouped in beds, while trailing varieties are perfect for container, window boxes, and hanging baskets. We prefer annual varieties that bloom quickly the first season.
Sowing: Sprinkle the tiny seeds on the surface of a good seed starting mix and do not cover the seeds as they need light to germinate. Gently firm the seed staring mix down after you sprinkled the seeds. Keep the seed trays, or pots at a temperature of 66-76 degrees. The germination can take 14-20 days. Sow the seeds from February onwards, generally about 7 weeks before you want to transplant the seedlings. Placing the seeds into a polythene bag can aid germination by keeping these flower seeds warm and moist. Water the lobelia seeds always from the bottom, so the water will not disturb the small seeds.
